Air Mattress Pump

You see those lovely advertisements on TV and cannot help admiring the beauty and the obvious comfort of an air mattress. It is indeed true that sleeping on an air mattress is heavenly. However, have you stopped to think how it gets inflated? Do you blow into it like you would into a balloon? Do you use an automatic inflator? Or, is there any other way to have it inflated?

Meet the Air Mattress Pump

An air mattress without a pump to inflate would render it totally useless, because obviously you would not be able to inflate it or use it. Hence, in order to enjoy your air mattress, you will need a pump to inflate it. The pumps are divided into two major categories: electric pumps and manual pumps. Both types have their own advantages and disadvantages.

The manual pumps are good for camps, outdoor picnics, beaches and the like where there is no electricity (unless you carry your own generator). Here, without electricity, an electric pump would be of no use. Hence, in these circumstances the manual pump is the right pump for you. The manual pumps come in two types: one is operated by the hand, and another operated by the foot. Both the manual pumps are slow and tiring, but at least they can fill up your air mattress and give you an exceptionally good sleep.

The electric pump is great for indoors, where access to electricity is not a problem. It can be used for when guests come suddenly, or when the children have their friends over. Electric pumps are extremely fast and effortless to use. All the work (of inflating the mattress) is done automatically by the pump.

Some mattresses come with their own pumps (usually automated and electric). However, if they don’t, you will need to buy one in a hurry. Some of the air mattresses would include a cheap pump that is almost always manual. If this is the case, keep this manual pump for outdoor camping and buy a good electric pump for the regular use.

In the meantime, be on the lookout for a good manual inflating pump so that you do not depend on a cheap one (you never know how it will function, or whether it will function at all when really put to the test). It is always great to have something good and guaranteed when you travel, because you never know what can happen.
