Your Sleep Might Depend on the Firm Mattress You Are Sleeping on
It is true that most people are attracted to sleeping
on extra-soft beds. It is also true that many enjoy and have excellent
sleep on such mattresses. However, there are some people who cannot
sleep a wink unless they have a good, firm mattress under them. In fact,
lately there have been sufficient research studies that indicate that
sleeping on a firm mattress will indeed help one with his or her health
in general.
Why is it Important to Have a Firm Mattress?
The importance of having and sleeping on a firm mattress is actually a
relative term. The relativity depends on the person who loves to sleep
on a soft mattress. Now if I was a person who is used to and loves to
sleep on a soft mattress, then sleeping on a firm mattress would totally
cripple me. It would be like I was sleeping on a stone slab. Hence,
whatever be the general medical benefits, the person who loves to sleep
on a soft mattress would never prefer anything else.
It is true, however, that there have been enough studies and reports to
point without any prejudice to the firm mattress as one which is highly
beneficial for curing backaches and treating them. If you sleep on a
firm mattress without a pillow for about a week or so, you will not have
any backaches for a long time to come.
There are many diseases of the back and neck which are not only terribly
uncomfortable, but also difficult in curing. It is always better to
prevent the backache and the related problems rather than searching
later on for a cure which is not guaranteed. Thankfully, very often just
sleeping on a firm mattress would reverse the trend, giving you peace of
mind and good health.
Those who already are suffering from back problems that have been
diagnosed and treated (or under treatment) should never sleep on
anything else other than a firm mattress. If they tried sleeping on a
softer mattress, they would inadvertently aggravate their situation.
The fact remains, however, that those who prefer soft mattresses will
always feel comfortable only on a soft mattress. Given the pluses and
minuses of both the mattresses, which mattress would you choose? Answer
only after you have carefully considered the following criteria: Which
mattress comes with the longest warranty period? Which mattress you feel
is the most comfortable for you? Which mattress is the best on your
pocket, i.e. suits your budget best? Do your research, and you are sure
to find a good mattress. |
