Full Size Mattresses and Their Features

The most important feature when buying a mattress, especially for couples, would be the size of the mattress itself. In general, there are many different sizes of mattresses, which include king, queen, full, single, and twin. One of the most confusing ones would be the full size mattress, because of its nearness in dimension to the other types of mattresses.

A full size mattress, just like any other type of mattress, is made of multiple layers of foam, fibers, or any other form of medium. Typically this mattress is available all over the world, including the United States. Most mattresses range from 6 to 18 inches in thickness, which is a common thickness among large size mattresses.

Different Full Size Mattresses

A typical full size mattress, also known as a double mattress, measures 54 inches wide and 75 inches long in the Northern American region. In Europe, the full size mattress also measures the same, while in other parts of the world, especially in Asia, it measures slightly smaller at 48 inches wide and 78 inches long. The length of this mattress is indeed much longer than the American and European ones.

Another version of the full size mattress, which is the full extra-large size mattress, is only available in the Northern American region. This mattress measures 54 inches wide and 80 inches long, which is much longer than the Asian mattresses.

Most people tend to get confused between the full size mattress with the queen size mattress due to the length. The most common queen size mattress measures 60 inches wide and 80 inches long, which is same as the full size mattress. In general the size of a full size mattress may vary between the United Kingdom and other countries in Europe, but the width among the both variants is basically the same.

Things To Consider When Getting A Full Size Mattress

The most important thing to consider when buying a full size mattress is the padding. Similar to how a queen mattress is, there are three different levels of comfort, and it is up to the individual customer to decide on which they would prefer to buy. Generally, in the United States, a full size mattress comes with a 2 year warranty, so when you are buying one, do not get cheated by warranties lesser than that. Do your research, and you are sure to find a reliable mattress.
